Home pack lunch and snacks
We encourage healthy eating throughout the school and welcome the support of parent/carers with this. Home packed lunches and snacks should include items from all the healthy food groups and should not contain any chocolate, refined sugary items or nuts (we have a number of children in the school with nut allergies). Snacks should be in the form of a piece of fruit, vegetable, low sugar cereal bars, crackers, rice cakes. Chocolate, biscuits, cakes and crisps are not acceptable snack items.
All children in reception and KS1 receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable everyday as part of the government's school fruit and vegetable scheme. All children are encouraged to drink water throughout the day, a re-useable water bottle should be provided. Drinks included in home packed lunches should ideally be water or if flavoured they should be sugar-free/no added sugar drinks. Fizzy drinks are not permitted at any time. Further information on healthy eating can be found at https://www.nhs.uk/change4life.
Please refer to the Healthy Lunchbox and Snack policy for further details of how you can support both your child and the school.
