  • Honouring a Legend: Windhill21 Celebrates Sir David Attenborough with Global Goals Day

    Published 12/05/26

    Hands-On Learning and Global Connections

Our Global Goals Day focused on several key areas, including zero hunger, quality education, life on land, and responsible production. To bring these concepts to life, our students participated in a live lesson from the Eden Project, exploring the breathtaking biodiversity of the rainforest.

    Headteacher Sarah Wood noted:

"The event saw children tackling global challenges with local solutions, connecting each goal to the school’s international house system."

    From Seed to Sculpture

The school was a hive of activity throughout the day:

    • Sustainable Food: Pupils explored food sustainability by tasting home-grown produce and planting their own tomato seeds.

    • Circular Economy: Young creators upcycled plastic and cardboard, turning "rubbish" into creative treasures.

    • Wildlife Conservation: Our budding conservationists designed bespoke habitats for endangered species native to the national parks of Canada.

    A Tribute to Sir David

The afternoon was dedicated entirely to Sir David Attenborough. The atmosphere was electric with "environmental pride" as students took part in biodiversity bingo and even wrote and performed original songs about the legendary naturalist.

Beyond the activities, the day sparked important discussions about fairness, education access, and the power of making responsible choices. We are so proud of our students for developing a deeper awareness of how their actions today can contribute to a better, more equal world tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, Sir David—and well done, Windhill21!

  • Windhill21's KS2 Science Fair

    Published 30/01/26

Our Key Stage 2 Science Fair brought a buzz of curiosity and discovery to the halls, and I am still reeling from the sheer talent on display. From Years 3 through 6, our students stepped up as true young scientists, presenting projects that were thought-provoking, creative, and, most importantly, driven by genuine curiosity.

I want to start by saying a massive "well done" to every single student who participated. The level of effort was truly staggering, making my job as a judge nearly impossible. Walking through the fair, I saw a sea of impressive hypotheses, clear data collection, and amazing explanations.

While every entry was a credit to the school, eight projects stood out. Two winners were selected from each year group based on a few key factors. Their originality was clear as we looked for ideas that explored unique questions and showed their outstanding ideas. Their overall scientific design was also something to behold as these projects were beautifully constructed and clearly laid out. Finally, their overall dedication was evident to see where students had gone above and beyond, putting hours of investigation and passion into their work.

    Science Fair Winners:-

    Year 6: Miri and Henry

    Year 5: Tilly and Eleanor

    Year 4: Hugo and Yaqoub

    Year 3: Amelia and Oliver

Our Year 6 children had an unforgettable experience performing at the Young Voices concert at the O2. After an exciting afternoon rehearsal, where they were expertly guided and encouraged to sing out loudly and confidently, the children were fully prepared for the evening performance.

When it came time to perform, they sang with incredible energy and pride, confidently joining in with songs that had been memorised alongside thousands of children from school choirs all around them. The atmosphere was electric, and it was truly inspiring to see our pupils performing.

It was a very special evening and one that they will remember for many years to come.
